Whether you are seeking increased contract opportunities with Corporations or City, State or Federal governments, the need to advocate for this cause within your own State or in the nation's Capitol still exists. Join the Advocacy.
Even though Women Owned Businesses are the fastest growing business segment in the U. S., Women Business Owners are rarely the recipients of the Billions of Dollars in contracts awarded each year by corporate and government entities. The economic status of women owned businesses is far from disparity and acceptability.
According to the latest report on Women-Owned Businesses in the 21st Century prepared by the U. S. Department of Commerce Economics and Statistics Administration for the White House Council on Women and Girls," women owned businesses are typically smaller than men-owned businesses. Although women own 30% of privately-held businesses, these businesses account for only 11% of sales and 13% of employment among privately held companies. Average sales/receipts for women-owned businesses are only 25% of average sales/receipts for men-owned businesses. Women-owned businesses are concentrated in industry sectors where firms are typically smaller.
Recently, the U. S. Small Business Administration conducted a study and identified 83 industries of which women owned businesses were underrepresented or substantially underrepresented in the contracting process. Read SBA's RAND Study. When we asked the reason for this disparity, most contracting officers and other buyers of goods and services responded, "We can't find women owned businesses."
Contracts for Women partners with Corporations; City, State, and Federal Governments; Business Organizations; and Chambers of Commerce to improve the economic status of women owned businesses in their city, state, or community. Contracts for women works with Corporations, Government Agencies, Chambers of Commerce, and Organizations to identify women owned businesses needing certifications; Federal WOSB or EWOSB certifications and certifications provided by other certfying agencies; Corporate vendor registrations with any U. S. company; introductions to buyers/purchasers of goods and services; and other services necessary to increase chances for women business owners to receive contract opportunities; and then we provide that service.
The creation of more employer businesses; a decreased unemployment rate; an increase in taxable income; improvement in the economic status of women; and healthier communities are all end results of insuring increased contracts are provided to women owned businesses.
